Storz Coupling Sealed Cap
The most common is the Storz Coupling Sealed Cap made of aluminum (cast or forged). Cast couplings have lower material strength and are more susceptible to casting flaws. They are only suitable for low working pressure (up to 6 bar) and less demanding applications. We supply high quality forged couplings with working pressures up to 16 bar as standard, but we also stock less expensive cast couplings.

Product Description
Storz Coupling Sealed Cap made of aluminium are the most popular (cast ). The cast couplings have lower material strength and are more prone to casting defects. They can be used only for low working pressure (max. 6 bar) and for less demanding applications. As a standard we supply the high quality cast couplings with working pressure up to 16 bar.
Working Principle
When opposing Storz couplings are pressed together, special hooks on each coupling insert into the slots in the flange of the other. Rotating the couplings in opposite directions until they’re tight (usually a quarter turn) causes the latches to engage.
Each Storz connection contains a gasket. Turning the couplings tight causes the gasket to form a water-proof seal. To uncouple, release the latches and turn the couplings in opposite directions from each other. The couplings separate when the hooks and slots align.

2.Standard Storz couplings are rated for 150 – 250 Psi operating pressure. It can be higher or lower if specified with the specific coupling.

5.Storz couplings are easy to assemble and disassemble manually; a Storz wrench might be necessary if the coupling gets jammed after being pressurized.

Product Advantage
The main benefit of using Storz couplings is speed of the hose connection, as a hose can be locked with a quarter-turn. By comparison, locking hoses using threaded couplings often takes several turns. Because of this, Storz couplings are widely viewed as a safer alternative to using threaded couplings.
A secondary benefit over threaded couplings is that the connecting faces and hooks are less prone to damage if the coupling is dropped onto, or dragged over, a hard surface.
